Maryland 89, No. 5 North Carolina 87

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Maryland fans are celebrating a huge victory after the Terps knocked off North Carolina for the first time in more than three years.

DJ Strawberry scored a career-high 27 points, and Maryland rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat the fifth-ranked Tar Heels. The Terps have won five straight.

North Carolina had a chance to force overtime with 3-point-5 seconds left, but Brendan Wright missed the first of two free throws and the Tar Heels couldn't get the rebound of his second misfire.

Maryland improved to 22-and-7 overall and 8-and-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. North Carolina fell to 24-and-5 and 10-and-4.
