Massing of the Colors honors Veterans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the past 18 years, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington has hosted the Massing of the Colors, a very special Veterans Day ritual. It originated in 1922 as a way to show support for our military service members.

The Veterans Day address was given by Army Brigadier General Dan Hickman. Mayor Pro-Tem Earl Sheridan spoke on behalf of the Wilmington City Council. Commissioner Jason Thompson, a former Marine himself, spoke on behalf of the New Hanover County Commission.

All of the speakers emphasized their gratitude and respect for America’s armed forces.
