Mayor Saffo claims October 21 Disability Employment Awareness Day

Some local people with disabilities were recognized for their ability to overcome obstacles.

Several disabled workers were acknowledged in a ceremony at Wilmington City Hall Wednesday afternoon. Their employers were also recognized for their role in helping the disabled.

For David Morrison, emceeing the event was a special honor. “I’m proud of all our award winners,” he said.

Mayor Saffo added, “Makes them feel, you know, they’re part of our society and that they are very important to our community. So this is a day that the city sat aside so we could recognize those employers as well as employees that have participated in this program which has become to popular in our community.”

Mayor Saffo deemed October 21st Disability Employment Awareness Day in the city of Wilmington.
