McIntyre can use Congressional campaign money on governor race
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If Rep. Mike McIntyre decides to run for governor, he will not have to start fundraising from scratch.
As of last week, the Congressman’s campaign had $687,000 cash on hand.
We checked with the Federal Elections Commission to see whether he can use that money raised for his federal campaign on a state race. The FEC told us he could, but each state has its own set of stipulations concerning how the money is used.
We’ve left several messages with the state Board of Elections, but they have not returned our calls.
