Meet Liam Miller, a Hammerhead with quite the international resume
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington hammerheads have a slew of new players as they look to improve on their last place finish in 2015. Mark Briggs is the team’s new head coach and his expectations are high for this year’s squad. “It is important that the guys know that they have a job and they’re paid,” Briggs told WWAY on Monday. “That job is to win games for the Wilmington Hammherheads.”
One of the new players is Liam Miller. The 35 year old has a wealth of experience. It’s all been in Europe and the Hammerheads will be the first American club he’s ever played for. “It’s been good to get to know the lads,” Miller said after his third day of practice. “Seeing the personalities on the pitch and off the pitch as well. It’s quite interesting obviously coming from Ireland and having played in the U.K it’s totally new to me even if I suppose everything really. It’s exciting and I am enjoying day to day at the moment and working here in preseason.”
Mark Briggs added “Liam has played for arguably the been with the biggest club in the world. He played with Manchester United. He brings knowledge. We’re a new group. We’re jelling and trying to figure each other out, learn tendencies, learn each other’s game and how people think.” Essentially, for Mark Briggs the pre-season is all about bringing everyone together and they need be clicking by the time the season opener rolls around on March 26.
