Memorial tribute honors Bladen County man

There was a memorial tribute Sunday near Myrtle Beach honored the three crew members, including a Bladen County man who died when a medical helicopter crashed on the South Carolina coast last month.

The crew members died September 25th when their medical helicopter went down in the rain south of Georgetown. More than 1,500 people attended the public memorial at Coastal Carolina University, which honored paramedic Randolph Claxton Dover of Bladenboro, pilot Patrick Walters and flight nurse Diana Conner.

Omniflight CEO, Bob Peiser said, “I hope we comforted the families. I hope that their memories will comfort them for a long time to come. The three of them were very special people.”

A memorial fund has been set up for the victims’ families. The company that owned the helicopter plans to match contributions.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
