Michael’s chowder hits Harris Teeter shelves
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — If you’re craving the award-winning seafood chowder from Michael’s Seafood Restaurant, you won’t have to drive all the way to Carolina Beach to satisfy that craving.
Michael’s Seafood Chowder hit shelves today at 197 Harris Teeter stores around the southeast. It’s now available in stores from Washington, DC all the way down to Georgia.
“That’s huge for us,” Michael’s CEO Kurt Vanscoy said. “It’s something we’ve been working on and pushing hard. The procedure’s done, and we’re there. I walked into the stores in Mayfaire and Wrightsville Beach, and we are on the shelf. It’s a big accomplishment for us.”
The chowder just won the title of best seafood chowder in the world for the second year in a row at the Knorr Great Chowder Cook-off in Rhode Island.
Part of the proceeds from the Harris Teeter sales will be donated to a Cystic Fybrosis fund.
