Missing man found dead in lake

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The body of Jesse Sgro, the 23-year-old man who went missing in Bladen County on April 6th, has been found.

According to a release from Katie Hall with North Carolina State Parks, Sgro’s body was found in the middle of Singletary Lake, several hundred yards from the pier and shoreline.

Hall says Sgro had removed several articles of clothing, which could indicate he was struggling to swim. He was found in approximately 12 to 14 feet of water.

Sgro went missing late last Friday night while on a church retreat at Singletary Lake State Park just south of White Lake in Kelly.

The family has been notified.
