Mixed opinions on change in school start times
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Elementary students will start their school day an hour later than high school and middle school students.
The change in time is effective for the 2013-14 school year.
“It will be interesting to see how it will all work out,” Tinisha Green said.
Next year, Green will have a child in middle school and a child in elementary school. She said the staggered start times will work well with her schedule.
“I do work. My husband works. I normally get in about 9 o’clock so dropping them off to school will kind of be get dressed, drop off, drop off again, and I go to work. It will all kind of flow for me,” Green said.
Other parents are not so keen on the change.
“I’m not too happy with it,” Kellie Wells said. “It would just be easier for everyone to get up and get going.”
The change in start times will put more than $1 million back into the Brunswick County school system.
