Mom in court on charges of trying to kill daughter, cat

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman charged with trying to kill her child and pet made her first appearance in court today. Jeannie Marvel is charged with attempted first-degree murder and felonious cruelty to animals after she allegedly poisoned her nine-year-old daughter and cat.

The judge granted Marvel a court-appointed attorney.

Friends watched in the audience, shaking their heads and saying about the claim against her, “It’s not true.”
