Monkey Junction hotel robbed, armed suspect ran off


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) —  The New Hanover Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning armed robbery at a Monkey Junction hotel.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. at Best Western Plus Hotel located at 5600 Carolina Beach road.

Investigators say the suspect walked up to the front counter of the hotel and told the employee, “Give me all your money or something bad is going to happen.”

The suspect then showed him a gun inside his jacket.  The clerk told him he had to go get the money out of the back office and the suspect followed him to the back office where he took the cash and ran out the front entrance.

The Sheriff’s Office K-9 responded but did not find the suspect.

He’s described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years old, 5’09” to 6′ tall. He wore a blue baseball cap pulled down, tan jackets with hoodie. He also had a light beard.
