Moped driver hurt in weekend accident

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A moped driver is recovering following an accident at a major Wilmington intersection over the weekend, according to police.

The Wilmington Police Department says the accident was at the intersection of Shipyard Blvd. and Independence Blvd. Saturday afternoon.

Police says a moped driver ran a red light and collided with a truck.

The moped driver was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
