More charges filed against NC middle school coach
SALISBURY, NC (AP) — More charges have been filed against a
Rowan County middle school football coach accused of assaulting a
student, coach and a parent.
Forty-year-old Jared John Gallagher of Kannapolis has now been
charged with kidnapping, strangulation, interfering with emergency
communication and carrying a concealed weapon.
Gallagher was an assistant coach at Corriher-Lipe Middle School
in Landis. He has been suspended.
Gallagher originally was charged with child abuse, possession of
a weapon at school, assault and resisting arrest.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to the head coach’s call to the
school last week used a Taser three times to subdue Gallagher.
He had worked at the school since 2009.
