WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Around 2 a.m. on April 22, Benjamin Williamson left a party on Figure Eight Island.

Having recently arrived from New York, he was headed back to his parent’s house less than a quarter-mile away, presumably to turn in for the night. He had alcohol and cocaine in his blood stream as he drove his rental car down a dark street wet with rain.

Williamson never made it home. Detectives believe he got lost. Likely disoriented, he turned off the main road and down a boat ramp, crashing into the water. Trapped, he drowned.
