Viewers feel more “booms” in New Hanover & Brunswick Counties today

FROM AN EMAIL SENT IN THIS MORNING FROM OUR VIEWER, NICHOLE C.:

I have grown up here in (Oak Island) Brunswick county and as a child we would hear a rumble and a tiny little shake would happen. The grown ups always said it was the “continental shelf” shifting.

So as the years have gone by, I am almost 38 yrs old now…. that is what I have told my own child as she was growing up. The last couple of weeks these huge BOOMS are not what our parents told us growing up. And just yesterday the booms actually shook a plant I had rooting in my kitchen windowsill into the sink. It was followed up by a smaller boom exactly three minutes later. I know this because I had posted on facebook.

Now it has happened again ironically 23 hrs later. Again, I know this because I can look back at my posting on facebook. Hmm, I wonder if there will be a smaller one in about two minutes. I know WWAY has been on top of this story and that perhaps people think it is being over talked about and or silly. That being said something is definitely going on. The excuse of no one can explain is ridiculous!

I think it is more like we are not supposed to know. I think we DO have the right to know. It has almost given me a heart attack both times and has caused me anxiety. I sit and wonder if a tsunami wave is coming across this island every single time I hear it. I have watched your news station since I was a kid and am pleased that you continue to keep this story in the news. Please continue to keep us viewers posted, and thank you for all that you do!

PS. There went the second boom…this time it was 14 minutes later!

FROM ALLISON M. IN WILMINGTON:

We felt one this morning that visibly shook the rafters in our warehouse in the airport industraial complex off of Kerr & Old Wrightsboro Rd. Just at the end of the airport, but it certainly was not any airplane. We are used to those & this was completely different.
