Morning fog suspends Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry routes

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — All Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry routes are suspended this morning until dense fog moves out of the way, according to ferry workers.

There’s no word yet on when the route will resume its regular schedule, but say trips should start back up once the fog clears up.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division also says that US Coast Guard inspections may mean more missed trips later this afternoon.
