Motorcycle driver killed in Pender Co. crash


PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Highway Patrol said a man driving a motorcycle died in a crash in Pender County Saturday.

Sgt. Collier with the Highway Patrol said Lindsey Mathis, 50, was driving south on US 117 at NC 210 just before 8:00 p.m. when it happened. Collier said a driver in a pick up truck driving north tried to make a left hand turn when the two collided.

Collier said the driver of the truck was a juvenile, but could not release any other information.

According to online records, Mathis’ son Lindsey Aaron Mathis died in a moped crash in 2013. 

No charges have been filed at this time. Collier said the crash is still under investigation.
