Municipal Golf Course to reopen in October

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Municipal Golf Course has an official reopening date.

Crews have been working to double the size of the greens, installing a new irrigation system and fixing the fairway bunkers since late April of this year.

The project cost a little over $1 million. The money came from golf course capital funds, park bond funds and increased greens fees.

The grand reopening tees off with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a game of 16 holes October 1st.

The 18-hole course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and the greens have never had a complete restoration since the course was built.
