Munley gets key to the city
Carolina Beach honored a native daughter Tuesday night with a key to the city.
Kim Munley was recognized by the town at the town council meeting. Mayor Joel Macon handed over the microphone to Munley’s father, and former Carolina Beach mayor, to read the proclamation, praising and thanking Munley for her heroism at Fort Hood.
Munley also received recognition from the Chamber of Commerce, and the Carolina Beach Police Department.
“This is from my hometown. I mean gosh, a key to the city? That’s like the most honoring thing I’ve ever received, and I’ve gotten quite a few trophies and plaques along the way but gosh each time it just seems to be better and better,” Sgt. Kim Munley said.
Munley will head back to Texas Wednesday, after a week of Azalea Festival activities. Early next week, she begins intensive physical therapy for injuries she sustained while helping take down the Fort Hood gunman.
