Music Saves Lives Blood Drive

Some mall shoppers made a pit stop today to help others.

It was part of the Music Saves Lives Blood Drive.

The American Red Cross partnered with Independence Mall and Journeys Stores, and invited people to donate a pint of blood.

Donors were entered to win a $750 gas card, and VIP passes to the Van’s Warped Tour concert in Charlotte.

Barry Hooker, manager donor recruitment, said, “We are hoping to get donors out here. We’ve got VIP passes for people who come in, it’s not a ticket to the event, but it is a VIP pass you can use once you get there. We are hoping to see a lot of people come out today.”

The blood drive ended at 4:00.

Red Cross officials hoped the concert raffle would encourage local teens and college students to donate blood.
