N. Topsail Beach dredging project finishes after extension


NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A spokesperson says a dredging project to restore the south end of North Topsail Beach is complete.

Assistant Town Manager Carin Faulkner said about 1.25 million cubic yards of sand was used to rebuild 3.5 miles of shoreline. Faulkner said the project helped the town become eligible for FEMA Public Assistance Program. Norfolk Construction company completed the project at a cost of $16.8 million. The project has been going on since mid December of 2014.

The town paid for the project with an 11 year U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development
loan.
