N.C woman put on probation in deaths of 3 daughters

RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. (AP) — A woman whose three young daughters died after being trapped in a hot car has been placed on supervised probation for 36 months.

Ann Latrice Miller pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced Friday.

Rutherford County District Attorney Brad Greenway says he's satisfied with the outcome. He says he doesn't know what benefit would have come from sending her to prison.

Miller also was ordered to perform 144 hours of community service and to continue psychological treatment.

Authorities have said that Asia and Bry'asia Sheppard, two-year-old twins, and four-year-old An'niya Miller climbed into their mother's four-door Honda parked outside the family's townhouse near Forest City last November.
