National Weather Service in Wilmington offers tours for the deaf and hard of hearing today
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As Weather Ready Nation Ambassadors, the NC Division of Services Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) Regional Center in Wilmington North Carolina is partnering with the National Weather Service Office in Wilmington and WWAY to host a series of fun and informational seminars for deaf and hard of hearing community in the Cape Fear Region. In addition to sharing a multitude of weather safety information the Weather Ready Challenges include a tour of NWS operations and a presentation that focuses on how the deaf and hard of hearing can assist the NWS and its partners in their mission of protecting life and property with respect to weather hazards. This DSDHH Weather Ready Challenge will include specialized events throughout the upcoming year beginning today. The activities will commence with tours of the NWS office in Wilmington this afternoon, and a series of seminars through the winter, spring and summer.
