Navassa mayor had booze in truck when pulled over according to police chief

NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — The highway patrol arrested the mayor of Navassa for DWI over the weekend.

We learned today he had alcohol in his truck when he was pulled over.

Navassa Police Chief Copelen Taylor tells us Mayor Eulis Willis had a flask of liquor and was dumping a cup of alcohol out the window when he was stopped.

Willis blew a .09 which is over the state limit of .08.

Chief Taylor says the troopers were not aware that Willis was the mayor when they stopped him.
