Navy to pay for Lejeune water study
After months of fighting, the US Navy says it will fund a study of past drinking water contamination at Camp Lejeune.
The Navy sent a letter Thursday to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry saying it will pay more than $1.5 million for the study. The goal is to see if there are higher mortality rates for Marines who served at the base during the years the water was contaminated.
