NBHS student facing charges for making school threats
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County deputies arrested a student after they say the teen wrote a note threatening to “kill everyone” at North Brunswick High School.
Triston Bryan Alderton, 16, of Leland, is charged with making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property. Warrants show Alderton wrote the threats on a piece of paper, saying he would kill the teachers, then the students, before killing himself.
Investigators say while the details of the incident that led to the student’s arrest cannot be discussed, Sheriff John Ingram says he assures school officials there is no threat to the safety of the school’s campus, students or staff.
According to a news release, a spokeswoman says privacy laws prohibit Brunswick County Schools from sharing any information about the student facing charges. The release goes on to say that school administrators will utilize the school system’s code of conduct and policies to guide their actions.
The news release ends saying, “Brunswick County Schools and the sheriff’s office take these incidents very seriously as the safety of students and staff remain our top priority.”
Alderton was booked in the Brunswick County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
