NC agents seize moonshine, bust whiskey still

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — State alcohol control agents raided locations in three counties, seizing hundreds of gallons of what they say is illegally made moonshine. The state Department of Crime Control and Public Safety said Wednesday that since last week the raids have resulted in seizures of cash, personal property and multiple arrests.

State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents and Johnston County sheriff’s deputies seized 255 gallons of the homemade liquor in Benson, and destroyed nearly 4,000 gallons of mash used to make the bootleg whisky. Agents also found 294 gallons of liquor in Warrenton and six gallons of moonshine in Hollister.

Four people face a variety of charges stemming from the operation.
