NC cop dog dies of cancer; saved officer in 2009
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A Wake County police dog has died from
cancer less than 18 months after saving his handler’s life during
an arrest.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that 10-year-old Jagger
died Friday.
Jagger saved Wake County Deputy Bradley Manville while arresting
a burglary suspect in December 2009.
Jagger and Manville had worked together since 2002.
The two had confronted a burglary suspect in some woods near
Wendell. Manville says 25-year-old Cornelius Pierre Harrison of
Rocky Mount was reaching for the officer’s gun when Jagger grabbed
the suspect’s leg and pulled and pulled, allowing Manville to get
control of his gun and shoot and kill Harrison.
