NC man apologizes in court for burning baby items

SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) – A Rowan County man accused of a break into the home of a family attending the funeral of a 1-year-old toddler has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident.

The Salisbury Post reports (http://bit.ly/XglqbO ) Bobby Joe Milam pleaded guilty Thursday to ransacking the home of Nick Munn and Jessica Kepley following their son’s drowning. Milam apologized in court, saying he had a drug and alcohol problem and didn’t remember the break-in or burning the toddler’s personal items.

Milam was sentenced to between 20 and 42 months in prison, and was ordered to pay restitution for the burned property.

Authorities say more than $4,000 in property was taken from the home while Parker Munn’s parents attended the funeral. Parker drowned last September after apparently falling into another neighbor’s decorative pond.
