NC man captured 9 days after fleeing from deputy, arrest

HICKORY, NC (AP) — A convicted felon who fled from a gun possession charge earlier this month in Catawba County has been captured nearby in Lincoln County.

The Hickory Daily Record reports that 48-year-old Jeffery Tucker was arrested about 8 p.m. Saturday by Lincolnton police. He is being held in the Lincoln County jail on charges of breaking and entering, possession of a firearm by a felon and speeding to elude arrest.

Tucker fled from a deputy Dec. 18 as he attempted to serve a federal warrant on the gun charge. Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for Tucker. During an intense, eight-hour search in Maiden, nearby residents were asked to stay in their homes.

Tucker is scheduled to appear in court in three different counties on various gun and illegal driving charges.
