NC native hurt in Oregon shooting named state’s Person of Year


RANDLEMAN, NC (WSOC) — A North Carolina native who was shot multiple times trying to stop an Oregon community college shooting has been named Oregon’s 2015 Person of the Year.

Chris Mintz, from Randleman, North Carolina, was shot five times as he tried to stop the gunman at Umpqua Community College.

Nine people died in the October attack.

He said he just wants to blend in and thinks the victims of the shooting deserve the attention.
