NC air quality officials issue ozone advisory
RALEIGH — North Carolina air quality officials have issued an ozone advisory for several areas in the central portion of the state.
The state Division of Air Quality has issued a Code Orange ozone alert Wednesday for Charlotte, Hickory and the Triangle metropolitan areas.
Officials say the warning means that people who are sensitive to air pollution, like children and the elderly who are active outside, should avoid spending much time outside in the afternoon.
Officials say people with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and other respiratory ailments should also be careful.
Residents in those areas should also refrain from outdoor burning under a Code Orange warning.
