NC authorities search for juvenile after escape

RALEIGH — Authorities are searching for a juvenile who escaped custody while on a home visit.

The North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention said Sunday that the boy was last seen in Willow Springs on Saturday night. The agency said in a news release
it has a “high degree of concern for the safety of both the juvenile and the public.”

The department identified the juvenile as Steven P., declining to release his full last name. He had been staying at Whitaker School, a long-term treatment program in Butner designed for
teenagers.
