NC barrel monster artist creates another monster
RALEIGH, N.C. — The controversial barrel monster artist in North Carolina has created another monster – this time out of office supplies instead of orange road construction barrels.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Monday that college student Joe Carnevale has built a towering elephant out of old computer parts, power cords and printers.
Carnevale was commissioned by the Purple Elephant – a nonprofit agency that rebuilds donated computers and delivers them to needy children. The work was part of a sentence of 50-hours community service given to Carnevale in the spring after he turned roadside orange traffic barrels into a giant monster.
Police charged Carnevale with larceny and destruction of property but the charges will be dismissed with the community service.
