NC businesses say recession is a state of mind

WINSTON-SALEM — About three dozen North Carolina business owners have banded together and refused to participate in the recession.

Their businesses include construction and real estate companies, along with a florist and hair stylist. The Winston-Salem Journal reported Wednesday the group has pooled money to put up billboards in Forsyth and Guilford counties, distribute bumper stickers and create a Web site, www.say-no-to-recession.com.

Clemmons-based CPA Mac Bond and others agree that times are tough, but they’re choosing to be positive and believe that things will work out.

Advertising-company owner Janice Buie of Lexington said the danger is that the bad news puts people into a panic and they pull back their spending too much.
