NC CEO speaks to students on Hudson River miracle

CHARLOTTE — The CEO of a North Carolina company that sells note pads with a touch of style says he’s learned important lessons from surviving the emergency splashdown on the Hudson River.

Carolina Pad president and CEO Clay Presley speaks Tuesday to graduate business students at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Presley bought Carolina Pad in 2000 and shifted it from a traditional paper manufacturer into selling notebooks with a touch of design and fashion. He has a new book about how business
executives can excel.

Presley was also a passenger on US Airways Flight 1549, which made an emergency landing in the Hudson River in New York City after it struck a flock of Canada geese and both engines were knocked out.
