NC college student shot to death at apartment

GREENSBORO — Police are investigating the shooting death of a North Carolina college student whose body was found at the apartment building where he lived.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that the body of 22-year-old Dennis Hayle was found Sunday in a corridor at his apartment building near North Carolina A&T State University.

Hayle was a native of Hempstead, N.Y., and was expected to graduate this year. He was studying criminal justice and political science.

Police say the killing is the third homicide in as many days in Greensboro.

Neighbors say they didn’t hear anything unusual before the shooting and say gunshots were a common occurrence. Neighbor Kendra Webb, also a student, said a man was shot in the leg outside the apartments last weekend.
