NC Correction Department seeks review of state probation offices
RALEIGH (AP) — The state Correction Department wants a federal agency to review training and practices of probation offices in the state’s urban areas.
Department spokesman Keith Acree said a letter dated Monday will go to the National Institute of Corrections, which is part of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The request comes nearly two weeks after the department’s Division of Community Corrections released results of an internal investigation regarding the probation cases of two men accused in the death of University of North Carolina senior Eve Carson.
