NC Highway Patrol launches sober driving campaign
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — The leader of the North Carolina Highway Patrol is helping to launch a campaign to urge motorists to avoid impaired and reckless driving during the holidays.
Cmdr. Michael Gilchrist will help start the “Tie One On” ribbon campaign sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in a ceremony scheduled for Tuesday at the Highway Patrol Training Academy in Raleigh.
The campaign encourages motorists to tie a red ribbon to their vehicles between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day to symbolize their pledge to drive safe and sober throughout the holidays.
