NC Marine said in 911 call he wanted to kill self
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Camp Lejeune Marine charged with killing his wife in North Carolina said in a 911 call that he had written a suicide note describing what happened.
But multiple media outlets reported that 22-year-old Cody D. Richardson of Wolfeboro, N.H., said in the call Monday that he couldn’t bring himself to commit suicide.
When police responded to Richardson’s call, they found him waiting outside his apartment and his wife, Jessy, dead in the bedroom. The corporal was dismissed from the Marine Corps on
Wednesday, the same day authorities released the 911 call.
Richardson is in jail under a $1 million bond. His next court appearance is scheduled Oct. 13.
A death certificate by the Onslow County medical examiner says Jessy Richardson died of asphyxiation due to strangulation.
