NC mother upset after late son’s possessions taken
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A North Carolina woman hopes a thief will return items her late son owned and the memories they carried.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported that someone broke into Sharon Bennett’s home late last week and took her son’s cell phone that she kept activated so she could hear his voice telling callers to leave a message.
Scotty Wayne was killed in a wreck last year.
Bennett says the burglar took jewelry, a laptop computer and a video recorder with footage of a birthday celebration on Aug. 20, the day her son would have turned 18. The burglar also took a broken digital camera containing pictures Wayne had made at East Carolina University, where he had a full scholarship.
Bennett says she wouldn’t press charges if the items were returned.
