NC officials joining free webcast on energy funds

RALEIGH — Government and school officials in North Carolina are joining a webcast workshop on accessing more than $58 million in federal energy funding.

The state Energy Department is hosting the two-hour webcast on Tuesday to encourage government and school representatives to ask questions about how the money should be used.

The $58.3 million will be divided as energy conservation grants for 32 of the state’s largest cities and counties and the Cherokee Indian reservation. Another portion will be distributed to smaller communities and agencies.

The free webcast will be available through a link on the department’s Web site.
