NC school system investigates athletics funds
GREENSBORO — A North Carolina school system is investigating whether money may have been misappropriated from several athletics fundraisers and a booster club.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported Thursday that Guilford County school officials are looking into money at Northern Guilford High’s athletics program.
One coach said investigators asked about how money was raised and spent by the school’s sports teams.
School system officials said last week the school used five students in four sports and cheerleading who weren’t eligible because they lived outside the school’s attendance zone.
