NC Senate to quit for this year, House continues
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Senate is ready to wrap up their time in Raleigh this year.
The Senate plans to adjourn their work for this legislative session on Friday, while the House plans to keep working until Tuesday. That means the General Assembly will be in official
session until next week.
Lawmakers have felt summer vacation coming all week. They’ve sped up their work and dozens of proposed laws have worked their way toward passage.
Senate leader Marc Basnight of Dare County said a special legislative session could be called late this year or early next year after a committee studying how to restructuring the state’s
tax system holds hearings and presents suggestions.
