NC sheriff’s deputy charged in sexual batteries
RALEIGH — Police have arrested a Warren County sheriff’s deputy accused of inappropriately touching women at two Raleigh stores.
Authorities say 40-year-old Cornelius Davis was charged Wednesday with two counts of sexual battery.
Investigators say a woman shopping at a Wal-Mart on May 30 and another woman Wednesday at a Kohl’s in the same shopping plaza reported a man improperly touched them.
Officials say Davis was arrested Wednesday at the Wal-Mart.
WRAL-TV in Raleigh reports that Warren County Sheriff Johnny Williams says Davis has been a deputy with the department for two years, but wouldn’t comment on the arrest.
Davis is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail and has a court appearance scheduled for Friday. It is not known whether he has an attorney.
