NC State prof’s charity asks for week at beach for vets
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A college professor in North Carolina has come up with a way to help military families enjoy a break.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that North Carolina State University adjunct professor Keith Earnshaw has started a charity to give a week at the beach to service members and their families. Earnshaw says he was at his beach house on Bald Head Island in January and realized all the empty homes offered an opportunity.
Coastal Giving asks owners of beach houses to donate a week to military families, injured service members or families with children who have life-threatening medical conditions.
Coastal Giving also accepts donations to pay for cleaning services, meals and adventures for those who use the homes.
