NC teacher investigated for child porn

RALEIGH — Authorities are investigating a Durham teacher for sharing more than 1,800 images of suspected child pornography online.

The State Bureau of Investigation said Monday it seized computer files and other records from the home of 61-year-old Willem J. Pet, a teacher at Southern Durham High School. Pet has not been charged, but Durham County Schools spokesman Michael Yarbrough said he had been suspended with pay since Dec. 12.

A search warrant said investigators used a program to tap into Pet’s IP address and flag any files that have been suspected of depicting child pornography. Some of the files depicted children in provocative poses. Others showed underage children engaging in sexual intercourse with adults.
