NC town discusses police arrests, resignation
SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Elected officials in a North Carolina town plan to meet with their attorney to discuss the arrests of two police officers and the resignation of their police chief.
The board of aldermen in the town of Spring Lake, next to Fort Bragg, has scheduled a Thursday afternoon meeting that will be closed to the public.
Two sergeants were arrested earlier this week and charged with crimes ranging from embezzlement to assault and obstruction of justice. The town’s police chief also resigned this week.
The sheriff of Cumberland County has taken over criminal investigations in the town.
