NC transportation official says stimulus package will only help the state break even

North Carolina’s top transportation official said the proposed federal stimulus package could provide $900 million for the state’s transportation projects. But that money may only help the state break even.

Transportation Secretary, Gene Conti, said dwindling state gas and auto-sales tax receipts are expected to cut transportation revenue by 300 million annually for the next three years.
