NCDOT: Bridge inspections on I-40 require lane closures

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Drivers who travel on Interstate 40 over the Northeast Cape Fear River in New Hanover County will encounter lane closures starting Wednesday.

NCDOT says the closures are for crews to inspect the bridge.

The closures will be in place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day through Friday, with one lane remaining open in each direction.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and pay extra attention when approaching the bridge during the lane closures for their own safety, as well as the workers conducting the inspection.
